    Update - May 5th

All the colonies that we imported into the UK in early April are now sold.

We still have a range of colonies available on our ant farm in Thailand and will be expanding the selection over the next few months.

We will be updating our shop page in mid-June and if required colonies can then be sent to customers direct from Thailand. We will also be importing another consignment of colonies into the UK in late August.

If you would like to reserve any colonies in advance from this import or have any special requests please contact me.

For any colonies reserved for the August import no payment will be due until the end of July - then a 20% deposit will be required to reconfirm your reservation.

  Our shop.

There are many different tropical ant species to be found in Asia however only a limited number are suitable for keeping in captivity. Some species are so small that observation is extremely difficult and others because of their habits are unable to survive in normal captive enclosures.

The species we have selected and offer for sale are those which will adapt to captivity well and are easily observed.

We are in most cases cultivating the colonies on to larger sizes than are offered for sale elsewhere; as we have found that many tropical species require more skill to care for. In most cases in selling a queen with just a few workers there is a higher risk of colony failure before they can settle down and start breeding. Obviously some genera such as Camponotus are easier to care for and smaller colonies will settle down quickly - but others like P. diversus are notoriously difficult to establish from a queen and a few workers.

The prices of our colonies reflect the number of colonies that we have in stock, how easy they are to care for and length of time that we have to care for them in captivity before they are ready for sale.

We have a standard range available that we can obtain regularly and will be adding to this range as and when we find and test more suitable species.

Scientific names are to the best of our knowledge correct. However, due to the complexities in identifying some species and their many variants: - We accept no liability for species found to be incorrectly identified.

    Note:

All our prices are now in UK Pounds Sterling.

The cost of postage is included in the price and not an additional extra. However - for countries outside the UK minimum order amounts apply.

Please ensure that you read our terms and conditions before placing any orders. If you order and pay for a colony it is on the understanding that you have agreed to our stated terms and conditions.
